I'm a 70 year old who started college using a slide rule and analog computers - wrote machine language, yadda yadda... and keep current by self study - currently finishing intermediate Python, Gretl, Tableau, SQL, and a few others on a combination of iMacs, Mac minis and assorted Windows laptops. Just starting Linux and I thought I'd add Pi hardware to the mix.
I believe I'm a data scientist - even though linear algebra used to make me nauseous - but we used to call it operations research. I'm a believer in the fact that without context knowledge you can't be a data scientist - data isn't just numbers - it's understanding what they mean - otherwise the average American has one breast and one testicle
