We get a lot of overly broad questions like "how do I make games?" If you were to ask me that in person, today, I would tell you "just use Unity with C#." If you want to make games, the free version has everything you'll need, and anything you can't make is either available free somewhere or on the Unity Asset store, including editors like PlayMaker that allow you to visually script games such that you don't necessarily need to do traditional programming. That way, you can ease yourself into programming as the need arises.
