This Jun 3 Fox New Video shows Defense Secretary Mark Esper reversing a decision of Donald Trump to send troops in Washington back to their home base.

It is unclear from the reporting if the decision to do so was made by Esper or Trump, but there seems to be an insinuation that the decision was made by Esper.

Is this true?

Your speculation about "coups" isn't a notable claim. The rest is a news report, with an interview. If it isn't true, it will take a few days for the journalists to catch up. There is little to do but wait in the meantime. – Oddthinking Jun 4 at 2:26
  • Trump says a lot of things that don't ever translate to actual policies. Him saying that he would deploy the military doesn't mean an actual order was ever issued. Esper said "The option to use active duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort, and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now." – DenisS Jun 4 at 15:23
  • Furthermore, the soldiers in the DC area that Esper was referring to was in regards to the president's decision to use military force to clear out protestors for a campaign photo-op. He wasn't deploying these troops to clear out rioters in cities, he was using them to cross the street to a church for a photo. – DenisS Jun 4 at 15:25
