The CDC published a poster on March 28, 2019 that reads:
For kids born 1994-2018 vaccines will prevent an estimated 936,000 deaths in their lifetimes.
The statement appears in reputable sources here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here. However, I cannot seem to find an original explanation of the number. As the CDC poster appears to be the earliest version of the statement online, I believe the claim originated with the CDC.
I did the calculations myself based on this study, and found the number roughly matches 914,337, not 936,000, so I am skeptical.
Will vaccines prevent 936,000 deaths for kids born 1994-2018?
How did the CDC (or anybody else) come up with the number 936,000?
