I was perusing the web, and found this statement trending wildly on Facebook and Twitter, in light of North Carolina's Controversial New LGBT Law.

This tweet claims that there have been more US Senators arrested for some sort of sexual misconduct in bathrooms than transgender people for the same offense.

I find this hard to believe, not because of any discriminatory opinions, but because the population of people who are US Senators is relatively small. Is there any evidence to back up this statement?
