Apr 11, 2019 at 0:27 comment added Jack David Attenborough afaik has always been open about the fact that some footage in various documentaries is shot in controlled conditions (either zoos or using bait etc), although he prefers to avoid it, and generally only attempts to reproduce already documented wild behaviour. That polar bear incident caught flack for deceptive editing.
Apr 10, 2019 at 14:17 comment added user11643 @PaulJohnson The parts of deceptive footage listed in the Daily Mail are not uncertain. In fact DA defends them as necessary and reasonable. There's literally hundreds of sources if you Google it. independent.co.uk/voices/…
Apr 10, 2019 at 9:25 comment added Paul Johnson @KDog I wouldn't consider the Daily Mail a reliable source. If you read what they say carefully you see it is full of weasel words, and its main source is speculation from a zoologist who wasn't there contradicting testimony from a camera crew who were.

Apr 10, 2019 at 2:10 comment added user11643 @Fizz I see. Might be the same, but no mention of falling off cliffs. Just a stampede.
Apr 10, 2019 at 2:04 comment added days of love iff good genes The phys.org article is describing an event from 2017 as well. Only the (generic) photo is from 2015.

Apr 10, 2019 at 1:49 comment added user11643 @Fizz Can't be. That's 2015. This event was 2017.
Apr 10, 2019 at 1:47 comment added days of love iff good genes Is phys.org/news/2017-09-stampede-dozens-walrus-death.html talking about the same event?
Apr 10, 2019 at 1:40 comment added Obie 2.0 I see a possible larger issue with this. Apparently they could see that the walruses were about to fall, and had several hours, but didn't think to try to prevent it in some way.

Apr 9, 2019 at 21:57 comment added user36356 David Attenborough has a history of manipulating his films. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6900011/…
Apr 9, 2019 at 20:08 comment added Ben Barden It's not necessarily strong evidence, but theatlantic.com/science/archive/2019/04/… at least has an explanation that sounds plausible.
