The Libel Reform Campaign has broadly welcomed the government's draft Defamation Bill, but as it stands would the bill have any impact on the use of 'gag orders' by large corporations and wealthy individuals in the UK?

I tweeted skeptical expert on libel law Simon Singh and got this answer via direct message: Super-injunctions and privacy not in draft bill, only defamation – Sklivvz Mar 19 '11 at 14:37
I tweeted skeptical law blogger David Allen Green and his (blunt) reply was: No, because you very rarely have superinjunctions in libel cases. (Original tweet) – rjstelling Mar 19 '11 at 14:44
Super-injunctions supposedly derive directly from the European Convention on Human Rights (via the Human Rights Act), so they won't be affected by any bill till somebody sorts out which of the two takes precedence in the event of conflict (don't hold your breath). – user2193 Apr 30 '11 at 21:58
