I recently posted about a new LED tv I bought. The sales rep tried to sell me an UBER expensive HDMI cable with it (which I did NOT buy and can't tell the difference anyway).

Someone commented on the post that Best Buy reps receive commission on sales. I was told differently.

Is there an ex-bestbuy rep who can clear this up? This would help me know whether they're gouging us for personal gain or not.

So: YES or NO?

If not, I'd be surprised. Any big chain should implement some mechanism to reward "talented" sales personnel... – Lagerbaer May 6 '11 at 5:26
I think this is off-topic. It's not a real claim. – Sklivvz May 6 '11 at 5:47
I could see a claim in "Best Buy sales reps try to sell you expensive things you don't need because they get commissions off of sales"/ – Lagerbaer May 6 '11 at 19:29
They don't make commission but they get intense pressure from management. IMO they are worse and more pushy than commissioned sales reps at other stores. – Chris_O May 7 '11 at 1:45
